CLIMATE ACTION SERIES /// Setting the Stage

We have until 2030 to reduce total global emissions by 65%, or climate change will become irreversible.

According to the IPCC and the UN, we have less than 10 years. To meet the 1.5* global warming threshold, New York City’s live Climate Clock gives us a little over 7 years.

We’re moving past denial. Historic wildfires, heat, floods, and hurricanes have affected every human and ecosystem. This week, President Trump admitted that humans cause climate change, but simultaneously, his administration has undone over 100 environmental policies and counting, many focused on global warming mediation.

The good news?
We have hundreds of proven solutions, available today, that can get us there.

Read the top 100 solutions to reverse global warming at Drawdown.org, a brilliant body of research that allocates the carbon sequestration potential, and the cost, of every one.

It’s time for individuals, governments, and corporations to shift behaviors, policies, products, and partnerships to meet the goal that has been identified for us.

So, over the rest of 2020, I will be sharing installments in a Climate Action Series that you (yes, you!) can take in your personal and professional life.

I'm synthesizing the wisdom I've collected over years as a sustainable designer and researcher. Topics will include choices related to food, vehicles, renewable energy, consumer goods, carbon offsetting, and developing a carbon footprint budget.

Subscribe in the footer to receive the Climate Action Series directly, or look out for more links from me, and an upcoming discussion on the Biofriendly Podcast.

...Researchers sought to determine what percentage of total population a minority needs to reach the critical mass necessary to reverse a majority viewpoint. The tipping point, they found, is just 25 percent.
